I watched Jurassic Park III last night for the first time in a very long while. My favourite scene, while short, was definitely the Spinosaurus vs. Tyrannosaurus Rex. It’s always been so thrilling to me. I had to turn to the internet for the fandom and discussion on this one. That’s exactly what I did, but to my surprise, a lot of people actually hated how this scene turned out; apparently it would have been a lot more epic if the fight took part near the end and the Rex had won that round.
…I’m going to have to strongly disagree. I mean, I’m a fan of the trilogy’s T-Rex myself, but I couldn’t be happier knowing the big, scary monster that was king badass in the previous films got taken down by another dinosaur - not just any dino, but the big bad in this film. Its victory coloured the Spinosaurus even more dangerous than ever before. Experiencing Alan Grant encounter the Rex again was a comfort, I think. A scenario that we were already acquainted with, and the Spino eliminated those limits when it took them by the neck and snapped it, bringing the audience to unfamiliar territory. It captured interest and left many of its audience members sitting at the edge of their seats.
I love the Jurassic Park movies. I love the films for reasons unique to each one, yet I love them all equally. One of my favourite trilogies! I’m a little nervous for the fourth installment due to the possibility of different actors and characters, but I’ll always be here for the dinosaurs no matter what.
